SAFETY

Safety is—and must remain—the government’s top responsibility. I am committed to ensuring Beverly Hills continues to be one of the safest cities in the nation by strongly supporting our police and fire departments. Every neighborhood deserves to feel protected.

With the subway extension and significant development activity in the southwest and southeast areas, these neighborhoods require heightened attention. We must also prepare for the arrival of hundreds of new housing units and highrise buildings. My focus on these safety priorities will not waver.

COMMUNICATION & FOLLOW THROUGH

As Beverly Hills evolves rapidly, clear communication and consistent followthrough are more essential than ever. Strengthening trust between residents and elected officials begins with transparency, accessibility, and genuine engagement.

I am thoughtful, fairminded, positive, and committed to building consensus. Every resident, small business, and public employee deserves to feel represented. The more we connect, the better our shared outcomes.

To support this, I would bring back Weekly Walks—I’m a walker, and there’s no better way to talk, listen, and understand what matters to you. I would also host ongoing informal gatherings across the city to encourage open dialogue and collaboration.

INFRASTRUCTURE

We must prepare our infrastructure for the next 20 years. Our electrical grid is a particular concern. With rapid advances in technology and the growing demands of AI, energy needs will increase dramatically. We must plan now to ensure Beverly Hills is ready.

HOME GROWN

Connection, Service, Accountability, and Heart.

Thank you, Beverly Hills!

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

What an amazing journey! I set out to walk our city and that’s exactly what I did, every day. It’s hard to put into words how rewarding this has been. So many of you opened your doors and welcomed me, reminding me of the deep sense of community that makes Beverly Hills so special.

Across the city, I heard many of the same concerns: safety, speeding and noise on our residential streets, rolling through boulevard stops, and the pace of overdevelopment. I was especially saddened that so many residents were unaware of the 16 Builder’s Remedy projects already in the pipeline, along with additional projects enabled by proximity to the new subway.

Communication and follow through — central pillars of our campaign — remain essential for better understanding and better decision making. And we must stay sharply focused on fiscal oversight. A projected $22.5 million deficit is a red flag. In a city with our resources, we should always be operating with a surplus.

With the appointment of a new police chief ahead, I hope we will seriously consider promoting from within — individuals who have risen through the ranks, demonstrated loyalty, and understand our unique community.

I’m also encouraged by the efforts of two dedicated residents, Nancy Blumenfeld and Jeff Levine, who have taken meaningful steps toward securing an agreement with Los Angeles that would allow Beverly Hills to clean out Franklin Canyon. If we can finalize this, we would simply need to raise funds for the cleanup. This is very important. I know we can do it. Thank you, Nancy and Jeff, for your leadership.

Our campaign slogan was HOMEGROWN — Protecting Beverly Hills through Connection, Service, Accountability, and Heart — Beverly Hills… Our City, Our Home. Though our vote count came up a little short, we couldn’t be more grateful for your support. I’m still considering next steps, but I know this: Beverly Hills is extraordinary. It was an honor to step up to the plate.

I am grateful for our election night celebration — so engaging and warm, a reflection of what we aimed to achieve — bringing community members of all ages together to celebrate the connectedness we all feel as part of this special and unique community.

Thank you for opening your doors. Again, what an amazing journey!  I’m here — don’t hesitate to call me. My number is (310) 270-3904, and I will get back to you.

 Yours respectfully, Roger

Roger Tanenbaum

For Beverly Hills City Council 2026

My family has been engaged in Beverly Hills civic life for nearly 80 years. My grandparents, Margery and Norman Tyre settled here in the 40’s and were community leaders. I’m proud to represent the third generation. Many of you knew by father, Robert K Tanenbaum, attorney, author and two-term mayor.

My years managing his business and literary career taught me the importance of preparedness, foresight and fairness. I learned how to lead proactively, tend to details, and anticipate challenges before they arrive. My JD from Pepperdine Law and BBA from Loyola Marymount University prepared me for fiscal and governmental affairs.  Also, I have created numerous small businesses, and have property management experience.

I believe this is an especially important time to be running for Council. As I walk the city, I’m sensing considerable uneasiness, especially in the SW/SE areas. With the arrival of the subway and over two dozen developmental projects in the pipeline pushing higher density, this unease is understandable. As I’m doing with my campaign and with all past endeavors, I listen, engage with people, problem-solve and am results oriented. Also, I’m hands on. My election campaign is grassroots with emphasis upon walking our city, along with a careful eye on the budget. This is exactly how I’d approach our city budget, being a responsible custodian of hard earned dollars. Being hands on translates into financial savings. This is who I am and how I approach responsibilities.

In this environment, leaders need an “all hands on deck” mentality. Independent research, creativity, and courage come into play. Circumstances that led to the Builder’s Remedy can never happen again. Also, there is the 34 story project at 8300 Wilshire Boulevard (not a BR project). How is it that again we’re told our hands are tied and state law strips us of local control? As a council member, I would fully engage with state leaders, our staff, and the residents to ensure best possible outcomes for our city. My diversified background well prepares me for leadership as we meet challenges with strength.

Another cornerstone of my vision is HOME; In this environment of large outside interest overstep, it’s more important than ever to protect that which makes Beverly Hills unique- protection of our homes, small businesses, families, schools, fire and police, the heart of our community. Mayor Donna Ellman Garber touched upon this at a recent Council meeting on 3/24/26. She reminded us that Beverly Hills is our home. This echoes my campaign slogan, Prioritizing OUR CITY, OUR HOME — Protection with Safety, Services, Communication, Accountability and Results Oriented Leadership. If this is our home, we protect and care for each other. We’re respectful and fight for our integrity with laser focus.

I have the time, commitment and energy to guide our uniquely special city into the next 20 years pure of heart, a listener’s ear and service  so we prepare as creatively as possible to meet our opportunities and challenges with new vigor.

Together we will continue to prioritize OUR CITY, OUR HOME.

I welcome your thoughts and ideas. Please reach out anytime so we can talk about our city together!
